Want to Make A Client Feel Special? - Don't Use This Email

I'm a sales guy, I get it . . . prospecting can be difficult.

LinkedIn is a valuable tool when trying to find leads. So when I was hit up by Jeff this morning, I was rather surprised as I already use his company. In fact, I renewed for another year a few days ago.

Jeff used a standard copy and paste prospecting email (who hasn't?), but forgot to change the name and left it as Nirmeen - my name is Ryan. I get a number of emails addressed to Richard (I guess they get confused with my last name of Richardson), but never Nirmeen.

Jeff and his company do a good job and this was an honest mistake, but being forgotten hurts. As sales professionals, our greatest strength is our ability to make our clients feel special.
